CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Trinity provides
Christian Education for all ages between the 8 and 10:15 services on
Sunday mornings during the school year. The children have been using
the "Living the Good News" curriculum, which provides age
appropriate discussions of the weekly Bible lectionary we use in our
worship services. For the adults, there is a class led by Dr. Bill Lacy
and Bill Klein on the lectionary, and another class which focuses on
a particular book. We've used such books as The Great Divorce and
The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, and I was Just Wondering
by Philip Yancey. Dr. Lacy's class meets year round. The youth
follow a separate curriculum, using video presentations to facilitate
discussion. (Click on the Youth link to find out more about the youth
ministry at Trinity.)
In addition to the
Sunday morning Christian Education classes, a nursery provides supervision
for children all year during the 10:15 worship service. There is a children's
chapel while the adults are doing the Liturgy of the Word in the church.
Just prior to the beginning of the Liturgy of the Table, the children
are invited to come into the church for a teaching minute with the rector,
after which they are given Gretchen Wolff Pritchard's "Sunday Paper"
to read (with their parents' help) and color.
We also have special
educational programs through the year. During Lent, for example, we
have a weekly study series devoted to a particular topic. Last year,
we studied reconciliation, in a program featuring a different lecturer
each week. During the summer, there is a rip-roaring Vacation Bible
School taught at night.
